Waymark ("Waymark," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information when you use the Waymark mobile application and related services.

By using Waymark, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. About Waymark

Waymark is operated by an individual based in Indonesia.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

When you create an account or use Waymark features, we may collect:

Account information

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Profile photo

Onboarding information

  • Spiritual background (collected during onboarding to personalize content)

User-generated content

  • Journal entries
  • Reflections and notes
  • Prayer content
  • Favorites and saved items
  • Lesson progress and history

Waymark also supports guest usage, but an account is required to save content and progress across devices.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the app, we automatically collect limited technical and usage information, such as:

  • Device type
  • Operating system
  • App version
  • App interaction events and navigation patterns

We do not intentionally collect precise location data.

3. Analytics and Tracking

What We Track

Waymark uses analytics to improve your experience and understand how the app is used.

Event Analytics

We collect event-level data such as:

  • Authentication events (sign in, sign up, sign out)
  • Lesson interactions (views, completions, shares)
  • Journal activity (entries created, edited, deleted — metadata only, not content)
  • Highlights and notes (created, edited, deleted)
  • Prayer reflections (liked, shared)
  • Mood check-ins
  • Profile updates
  • Navigation patterns (screens viewed)

User Properties

We may associate analytics with the following identifiers:

  • User ID (internal identifier)
  • Email address (if signed in)
  • Display name (if provided)
  • Spiritual background (if provided during onboarding)

4. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Waymark service
  • Save user content and progress
  • Improve app functionality and performance
  • Identify and fix bugs
  • Understand which features are most helpful
  • Personalize content recommendations

We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.

5. Third-Party Services and Sharing

Waymark does not sell or rent your personal data.

We share limited data only with trusted service providers necessary to operate the app:

  • Supabase for data storage and authentication
  • PostHog for analytics and session replay

These providers are bound by data protection agreements and are required to provide equal or greater protection of your data. PostHog does not use your data for advertising purposes.

6. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

On iOS devices, Waymark follows Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.

What This Means

  • "Tracking" refers to linking your activity in Waymark with data collected from other companies' apps or websites
  • Waymark does not use tracking for advertising or selling your data
  • Tracking is used only to improve the app and understand user behavior

Your Choice

When prompted, you may choose to:

  • Allow Tracking, or
  • Ask App Not to Track

If you choose not to allow tracking:

  • The app will continue to work normally
  • We will collect only basic, non-cross-app analytics
  • Session replay will be disabled
  • All features remain available

You can change your preference at any time in iOS Settings:

  • Open Settings
  • Go to Privacy & Security
  • Tap Tracking
  • Toggle Waymark on or off

7. Data Retention

  • Analytics data is retained for up to 1 year
  • Session replay recordings are retained for up to 30 days
  • Personal account data is retained while your account is active

Deleting your account permanently removes your personal data and associated analytics data.

8. Account Deletion and Your Rights

You may delete your account directly within the app.

You have the right to:

  • Know what data we collect about you
  • Access your data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Opt out of tracking on iOS via ATT
  • Contact us with privacy concerns

9. Children's Privacy

Waymark is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13.

10. International Users

Waymark is used globally. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection laws, including rights to access, correction, and portability.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or other appropriate means. Continued use of Waymark after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
