Waymark ("Waymark," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information when you use the Waymark mobile application and related services.

By using Waymark, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.


1. About Waymark

Waymark is operated by an individual based in Indonesia.


2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

When you create an account or use Waymark features, we may collect:

Account information

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Profile photo (optional; see Device Permissions below)

Onboarding information

  • Spiritual background

User-generated content

  • Journal entries
  • Reflections and notes
  • Prayer content
  • Favourites and saved items
  • Lesson progress and history

Waymark supports guest usage for browsing and reading lessons. An account is required to save content, track progress, and access personalised features.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the app, we automatically collect limited technical and usage information, such as:

  • Device type and operating system
  • App version
  • App interaction events and navigation patterns

We do not collect precise location data.

2.3 Device Permissions

Waymark requests device permissions only at the point of use and only for the following purposes:

No other device permissions are requested. Camera and photo library access is never used to collect, store, or transmit images beyond what you explicitly choose to upload as your profile photo.


3. Analytics and Tracking

What We Track

Waymark uses PostHog to collect event-level analytics to improve the app and understand how features are used. We do not use session replay.

  • Journal activity (metadata only)
  • Highlights and notes
  • Prayer reflections
  • Mood check-ins
  • Profile updates
  • Navigation patterns

User properties

  • User ID (internal)
  • Email address (if signed in)
  • Display name (if provided)
  • Spiritual background (if provided)

Sensitive content — including journal entries, prayer content, and reflections — is never included in analytics data.


4. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Waymark service
  • Save your content and sync progress across devices
  • Improve app functionality and performance
  • Identify and fix bugs
  • Understand which features are most helpful
  • Personalise content recommendations based on your onboarding preferences

We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.


5. Third-Party Services and Sharing

Waymark does not sell or rent your personal data.

We share limited data only with the following trusted service providers necessary to operate the app:

These providers are contractually bound to use your data only to provide services to Waymark and to apply equal or greater data protection standards. Neither provider uses your data for advertising purposes.


6. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

On iOS devices, Waymark follows Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.

What "tracking" means here

"Tracking" refers specifically to linking your activity in Waymark with data collected from other companies' apps or websites. Waymark does not use tracking for advertising or to sell your data. Any tracking is limited to improving the app and understanding user behaviour within Waymark only.

Your choice

When prompted by iOS, you may:

  • Allow Tracking, or
  • Ask App Not to Track

If you choose not to allow tracking:

  • The app continues to work normally
  • Only basic, non-cross-app analytics will be collected
  • All features remain available

How to change your preference:

iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → toggle Waymark on or off


7. Data Retention

Deleting your account permanently removes your personal data and associated analytics data.


8. Your Rights and Account Deletion

You may delete your account directly within the app at any time.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

9. Children's Privacy

Waymark is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.


10. International Users

Waymark is used globally. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with applicable data protection laws:

  • We process your data on the basis of consent (for sensitive personal data such as spiritual background) and legitimate interest (for analytics and service improvement).
  • You have rights under applicable law including access, correction, erasure, portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
  • Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your jurisdiction. When this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or other appropriate means. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Waymark after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
